It is with pleasure that the INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, European
Branch invites you to the 11th Biennial European ICSD Conference
on
European societies in transition - Social development
and social work
The conference will take place on 25-27 June 2008 at
the
Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Iasi, Romania.
Papers on the following subtopics are welcome:
- Strategies, models and values in social and community
work
- Social inclusion of vulnerable groups, particularly
children and minorities
- Civil societies and the state: The role of religious
communities.
The topics for the conference are mainly inspired by
the present status of social work and social welfare
in the Romanian society, but will hopefully attract
and inspire teachers, researchers and practitioners
in the social area in many societies in transition and
also worldwide.
Romania became a member of the European Union on 1
January 2007. The country is in the process of rapid
and profound transformation from a typical post-Soviet
society to a modern society.
Iasi, is the most important political, economic and
cultural centre of Moldavia (North-Easter part of Romania)
and one of the oldest cities in the country. Presuming
that for most of the participants it will be the first
visit to Iasi, a post-conference tour will be organised
on 28-29 June 2008 with visits some of the many important
historical sites in the region, including monasteries
with famous outside frescoes. Due to great interest
for this tour
Please reserve the end of June 2008 for this professional
meeting and a unique cultural experience. Information
on the programme, Registration form accommodation, Call
for papers, information, etc. will be available at homepage
for the conference at
